The Natural Hair Looks That Slayed The Emmys

teewhy-hive.blogspot.co.uk
The natural hair trend is taking center stage once again. We first saw an exciting explosion of natural styles popping up on the spring/summer 2018 runways in NYC last week, but now this fiercely fresh look proves that it’s red carpet ready, too, with a plethora of Emmys starlets wearing their loose locks loud and proud.
I gathered up some of these award winning styles and the exact tips on how to master these manes.

Anika Noni Rose
Have your trusted barber cut and line up the sides. Wash and deep condition hair. Apply leave in curly meringue. Let air dry. Pick or lightly comb as needed.

TRY:

Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue ($16)
Mielle Organics Babbasou Oil And Mint Deep Conditioner ($14)

Wash, condition, and blow dry. Flat ironing or heat pressing is optional,  but not necessary. Divide the hair into two horizontal sections in the back of the head. Create two ponytails down the back. Brush hair down using beeswax, edge control, and styling spritz to create a smooth finish on the natural hair. Using hair pins, twist in a synthetic hair bun or wrap. Or, create your own by twisting in a synthetic braid.

TRY:

Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey ($3)
BB Pump It Up Gold Super Hold Styling Sprtiz ($4)
Gabrielle Union
Wash, condition, and blow dry hair. After blow dry, section hair. Use a combination of beeswax, edge control, and spritz. Apply on thin sections of hair, layering it the same way you would apply a relaxer. Part hair in the middle of the front of your head. Brush, comb, and sleek all hair back into a bun at the nape of the neck. Using hair pins, wrap around the bun and secure every 2 cm. Use one or two bundles of kinky curly hair. Once secured, pick out and poof kinky curly hair as desired.

TRY:

SheaMoisture Jamaica Black  Castor Oil Replenishing Shampoo ($11)
Shea Moisture Cocounut and Hibiscus Curl And Shine ($11)
Luxury Brazilian Kinky Curly Hair Extensions  ($110)
Tracee Elis Ross

Wash, condition, and blow dry hair. Part and clamp the hair into six sections. Cornrow back towards the end. Tuck and pin into a neat bun in the back. Using a tooth brush and edge control, lightly brush edges.
TRY:

African Pride Olive Oil Miracle Silly Smooth Edges Hair Gel ($3)
Uzo Aduba
Wash and condition hair. While still damp, apply generous amounts of leave-in conditioner. Twist or braid hair, in eight or more sections. Once almost dry, remove twists or braids and pick out as desired.
