The Do’s & Don’ts Of Underwear As Outerwear

Lingerie is not just for the bedroom anymore, ladies. As slews of celebrities continue to display, sometimes less is quite literally more when it comes to covering up. While we’re all about this empowering and bold trend, there are certain guides (I would never say rules!) that should be kept in mind when wearing wearing undergarments as outerwear. Here, a guide of do’s and don’ts for what – and how – to wear underwear as outerwear.
DO consider wearing a long coat like Kim Kardashian for some coverage. Beyond keeping you warm, it prevents being overly exposed.

TRY:
Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini Lace Sheer Trousers ($690)
Topshop Wool Slouch Coat ($180)
Asos Anastasia Lace Half Cup Strappy Body ($41)
DON’T wear this to the office! Under any circumstances.
DO mix materials, like Serena Williams, to keep things visually interesting while also concealing just a bit of skin.

TRY:
Una Burker Leather Overlapping Leather Bustier ($1325)
Cosabella Soire Raglan Long-Sleeve Top ($99)
Nasty Gal Sheer and Dear Maxi Skirt ($68)
DON’T go completely bare and overexpose yourself. The right balance is key.
DO try a pop of color like J.Lo. Black is, of course, undeniably sexy, but colors add some fun!
