Paris Fashion Week: Guide To Doing Paris Right

Paris Fashion Week is coming! September 27th – October 5th to be exact. What’s more romantic than the streets of Paris? The streets of grand Paris a-la-fashion week, flooded with supermodels, designers, and international fashionistas all dressed to impress. Some of us have had the luxury of perusing down these Parisian avenues, but for the rest of us, the city of lights remains an unexplored treasure. Whether you’ve arrived for the first time, or are just plotting a fantasy fashion week voyage, we at The Lady Loves Couture have gathered up our Parisian passions in hopes of offering you an insider’s guide on how to do Paris Fashion Week like a pro. These are a few of my favorite things.

The Eiffel Tower
WHERE TO EAT: L’Avenue –Known as one of Kate Moss’ favorite spots, this French cafe (and celebrity magnet) is an ideal dinning spot between shows. Fill up on a mix of great American fare, pastas, and fresh fish, while mingling amongst a plethora of like-minded fashionistas and high profile celebrities.

Café de Flore —Originally opened in 1880, this historic Parisian coffee house is what your French fantasies are made of. Over pouring with the finest coffee, pastries, and traditional French cuisine, this endlessly charming spot was once a favorite amongst the centuries greatest artists, such as Pablo Picasso. The patio lends itself to cappuccino sipping and people watching like a true Parisian.

Ferdi— The whimsical yet chic spot is a treasure amongst insiders. Praised by the hippest of the hip, this little place is known for having the best cheeseburger in Paris. Ferdi is the ideal lunch spot before you hit up the neighboring famed Colette store for an expertly curated shopping spree.

WHERE TO SHOP: Avenue Montaigne—Think of this as the Madison Avenue or Rodeo Drive of Paris. Avenue Montaigne is home to Paris’ beloved high fashion stores, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, Fendi, and  Valentino. This legendary shopping district is considered the Grand Dame of Paris shopping.

St. Germain– This historic Latin quarter was once a hotspot amongst intellectuals and home to the Paris jazz boom. The tiny streets and charming architecture now house some of the finest fashion houses in France. Stop by Le Marche,  a coveted food market housing French cheeses and exquisite delicacies and its neighboring department store known as the Barneys of Paris.

Le Marais– This ultra-trendy shopping neighborhood is Paris’ version of NYC’s West Village. Take a charming stroll and browse the shops of your favorite French fashion designers like Isabel Marant and Vanessa Bruno, or the rock-glam favorite Maje.

WHERE TO GET YOUR ART ON: The Louvre –The only way to complete your trip to Paris is to stop by the country’s national treasure, the Louvre. As the most visited art museum in the world, the Louvre is home to over 35,000 historic works of art, including the famed Mona Lisa– we promise she’ll make you smile.

Musse de L’ Orangerie– For the finest collection of impressionist paintings, visit this museum which is the permanent home for the eight breathtaking Water Lilies murals by Claude Monet. The museum also contains works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, and Amedeo Modigliani.  On your way out, peruse the Tuileries Garden, an expansive renaissance garden adorned with romantic water fountains and a real labyrinth.
