From The Runway: Five Fall Trends To Try Today

Although there is certainly no nip in the air to mark the changing of the seasons, summer is slowly winding down as September nears. Even if you are no longer sharpening pencils and packing your backpack, everyone can benefit from some back-to-school wardrobe refreshers. To avoid duplicating things you already have in your closet (read: black jeans, gray sweaters), look to trends straight from the fall 2016 runways to add incorporate into your ensembles. Here are my top five favorites.

runway1
BROCADE
Arguably the most luxe fabric in history (and this one goes way back!), rich brocade, as seen at Prada and Gucci, takes any item from basic to truly special. Some may even say museum-worthy!

TRY:
1. Prada Brocade-Embellished Mule ($850)
2. Alice and Olivia Mollie Box Pleat Floral Brocade Dress ($465)
3. Chelsea28 Floral Brocade Pattern Tights ($18)

runway3
BLACK LACE
While definitely a bedroom and undergarment staple, intricate black lace, like at Rodarte and Roberto Cavalli, can certainly be worn in public as well. Just be prepared to receive plenty of appreciative looks from suitors.

runway4
TRY:
4. Alexis Mindy Sleeveless Embroidered Lace A-Line Dress ($878)
5. Badgley Mischka Nerina Lace Bootie ($198)
6. Nasty Gal Lady Lace Midi Dress ($158)

PINSTRIPES
Menswear-inspired items on women’s clothing is understated sexy at its best. Pinstripes, like we saw at Dries Van Noten and Suno, may be borrowed 1`from the boys, but something tells us they’ll be more than happy to share when it looks this good.

runway7
TRY:
7. DKNY Pinstripe Backpack ($498)
8. Nanette Lepore Pinstripe Wide-Leg Jumpsuit ($498)
9. Glamorous Stripe Longline Vest ($41)

GOTH FLORALS
Vampy, girly, yet still mysterious is quite the winning combination. Etro and Erdem nailed the goth floral vibe, and we can’t wait to get our hands on this fabulous floral trend.

PATTERNED FUR
Regardless of if you prefer real or faux, fur with an eye-catching pattern, like Fendi and Michael Kors displayed, makes any outfit more interesting.

runway12
