Fashion Scoop: Sears to Close Stores and Lay Off 5,500 People , Ellen Will Launch Fashion Brand With Holiday Capsule, Kate Moss To Continue Acting.

• Kate Moss is adding another notch to her acting belt by making a cameo in a made-for-TV film adaptation of a children’s book called The Boy in the Dress. Set to debut on Christmas, the film features the model playing as herself. As a friend of the book’s author David Walliam, Moss was expected to take the role. (Telegraph UK)

If Kmart and Sears are your favorite spots, you might want to stock up. At least 46 K-mart stores, 30 Sears department stores and 31 Sears Auto Centers are set to close before the end of January. In the process at least 5,457 will be let go. This comes after already having closed 75 Kmart stores and 21 Sears stores this year. Looks like Nicki Minaj might have to find somewhere else for her collection(above) to go.(Business of Fashion)

• If you think that the Kardashian Kollection looks the way it does because Kim has a lot of designer friends, you’re wrong. According to Kim she hasn’t yet consulted her high fashion clique for tips and tricks and is really out here making things from their own viewpoints. “The three of us [sisters] have worked really hard on it and I think that the great thing about the differences between us is that our shapes come in useful for designing,” she said. “Khloe is really tall, obviously, and Kourtney is petite, so I think that if we can make something that suits all three of us, it will look great on anyone.” (The Fashion Spot)

• As a follow-up to this year’s earlier news that she’s launching a lifestyle brand, Ellen DeGeneres headed to Paris to work on her first collection. The first part of the project will be a capsule holiday line to eventually be rounded out with everything from home and garden products. To that end she’s brought on a team of five apparel designers, five homeward designers and two textile designers. (Vogue)

• Oscar de la Renta’s funeral will take place on November 3rd. The private mass will take place at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue and 84th street. Our condolences to his family. (WWD)
